What is ADS-B Out?

ADS-B is a broadcasting system that does not require action from the pilot of the aircraft or any request from Air Traffic Control (ATC). The system enables aircraft to broadcast their identification position, altitude and velocity to other aircraft and to ATC. This is known as “ADS-B Out”. When an aircraft has the capabilities of receiving this information, it is known as “ADS-B In”.
