An intern’s experience…

Over the summer months  STC Twenty One likes to extent a warm welcome to a select number of students seeking an insight into the world of a UK DOA.

One such student that came to gain some much sought after experience was up and coming university student was Sam Hinchcliffe.

Here is what Sam had to say about his time with us:

“Whilst working at STC Twenty One over the summer I have learnt many useful things about engineering that will help me with my university degree, and about working in a professional environment.

Over the course of my time with the company, I was involved with multiple projects, including the replacement of a galley module in a Boeing 737 aircraft, where I had an insight into the large amount of work and certification needed to make what might seem like a small change to an aircraft.

My favourite project that I completed was the setting up and testing of an inertial navigation system that will be used to collect data on a helicopter test flight. As part of this project, I had the opportunity to see the helicopter at the hangar where it was being kept, and work with technicians at the airport to decide where on the helicopter to mount the test equipment. This was a great insight into the practical side of aerospace engineering, and how different disciplines in engineering can work as a team on a project.”

Sam had been with us for just over a month and is now set to explore the world prior to starting to study hard at Southampton university studying aerospace engineering.

All the staff at STC Twenty One look forward to seeing Sam again and we are sure he will be an asset to the aviation community in the years to come.
